Introduction
As of January 2009
Welcome everyone to my website. So much content on my character's awsomeness I had to develop a site to contain it all. Everything there is to know about my character Lyle can be found here.
It all started on the big day FFXI was released to the US. For the most part I have been an avid Final Fantasy fan and an RPGer in general. Everquest had been out way before FFXI's release, however, I was turned off by the the game's graphics (though could be debated as decent at the time of its release). I was quite new to the MMORPG genre and had no idea what I was getting into. Once I logged in for the first time I was drawing a complete blank on what to do.
Before, RPGs basically guided you exactly where you needed to go; making it near impossible to get off track. Being an open end game, FFXI made me feel really out of place, I spent my first few weeks just doing /random missions thinking it would eventually point me in the right direction.Soon, after I ran out of every lowbie quest you can accomplish in Windy, I had to start leveling a job in order to reach new and interesting things. I was quite the introvert at the time and was wanting a job that could be the best at soloing (wanting to be self-sustaining). I turned to my handy dandy Brady Guide which I got the week before (lol) which said Red Mage was ideal at soloing (little did I know lol). Well the next few months were slow and painful. I spent day after agonizing day soloing Red Mage from 1 to 34, working from Sarutabaruta to the canyons, to Peninsula. Then I worked my way through the swamp, into Rolanberry Fields and finally in Batalia Downs. It was by then I started to notice people I met before passing me in level at an alarming rate. The concept of a party didn't cross my mind this whole time and my revelation of what I have been missing this whole time thanks to the evils of the guide drove me to rip it, burn it then proceeded to urinate on it to put out the flames. Yeah, I was pissed.
After that experience points per day sky rocketed and I had to painstakingly adjust myself to a party environment after months of soloing. I got to looking at ninjas and at the time it looked really cool to me (the whole dual wielding thing). So I tossed my 43 Red Mage aside and started leveling Ninja. It then became very apparent that Ninja was much more expensive than Red Mage, so much in fact I found it harder and harder to keep up financially. It was then at this time I started looking into leveling Thief to use as my bread and butter for Ninja expenses. So, it was then I started to level Thief, and level it, and level it some more....... yeah, it didn't occur to me that Thief didn't get very many invites and took me over a year to level it. Why so long? Well about the time I started leveling Thief I decided to join the Navy. Many times I was out at sea for months at a time. With only my Laptop to wifi on base when we pulled in I had no way of playing online, so alot of the time at sea added up.
By the time I got Thief close to 75 I completely forgot about Ninja, content to use it as a sub job for my Thief. It was about this time I was asked by Sparhawk (I think) to come help his linkshell fight the Quadav HNM in Beadux. I never fought an NM that big before let alone with a linkshell so I agreed to help. It was a very fun fight and afterwards I was asked to join their linkshell. I happily accepted. A few months into the linkshell I aquired some friends in it, including Kinkie, Ragnaroksoul, Yukkio. At this time Gilfarmers started to appear, Also at this time I began to skill up Alchemy, just out of the fact Chemistry was a personal hobby of mine. What we basically did in Angelics (the linkshell I joined) was going after Small HNMs (Roc, Serket, the 3 beastmen HNMs, ect.) In a few months after that the gilfarmers started to show what kind of damage they were capable of doing to the game enjoyment. First headache was that they were at every HNM and valuable NM spawning point 24/7 with a high success of claim rate thanks to botting programs that took advantage of game packets, eliminating target and execution before lag. To make matters worse, some groups were violent, often attacking those that claim by forcing monsters on them called MPK. As an active farming Thief this made me angrier than sin, and I was in constant battle with them. Many groups had a common theme in names, like Happyboy and his group. Another group I could recall was Denfvler and his group. I can't remember if it was at this time or a year later Jution and Oceane was involved with one or more of these RMT groups. Anyway. As the Gilfarmers became more and more out of control prices on many wanted things and inflation in general continued to escalate as well. At this time me and Kinkie teamed up and I started to put my Alchemy to use.
We would farm 6-9 sets of HakuTaku Eyes and every 2 weeks would sell that many clusters. At first it was around 1 mil but up till the peak of inflation became as high as 2 mil per cluster. At some point the name was changed to ChildrenoftheKnight, but when exactly I have forgottenRight around this time some drama stirred up in my linkshell. Around that time I wanted to farm a Thief knife for a fellow Thief friend of mine, Fatcat. A linkshell leader, Sasekuken, wanted to come help. My first Sozu fight it dropped 1/1. It was an amazement and for a 40 mil item it was a very wonderful surprise. Unfortunately, Greed shows itself (as well as in personal character) when opportunity arises. It was then when Sasekuken ninja lotted on it I know this would not turn out well.... and it didn't.
Of course me and Fatcat made this known to the linkshell and it became a divided issue. Only Nelser and Fraiser were the neutral members there and at first they sided with Fatcat, since it was clear that this farm was for Fatcat.....however, when promised by Sasekuken that they would be sacked and God knows what other bribes they turncoated over to Sasekuken's side (being sacked shortly after). This of course enraged Fatcat, Ragnaroksoul, Kinkie and myself and we decided we would not be part of this corrupted ls. We started to ask members if they would come with us when we will split. Many agreed it was wrong what happened and said they would join us. few days later on the day we decided we would split we got a nasty surprise. All, and I mean all except Fatcat, Yukkio, Ragnaroksoul, Kinkie and myself chickened out at the last minute and said they wanted no part of our split. Of course it made this shitty situation even shittier than it could possibly be. It allowed Sasekuken to keep the knife, Fraiser and Nelser got a promotion and my friends and I were now by ourselves after everyone else in the linkshell turned two-faced.After that the next 2 years were a disappointment. Not financially however, during this period Inflation was at it's highest ever known to this day. It allowed us to buy Vir subligars with Eye Cluster money (8 mil each) and using Kinkie's Desynthing skills broke them into Cashmere Thread (which Kinkie then made into cloth) and Shining cloth. We were making tens of millions per cycle, I am so rich there were times I was just finding things to buy (unfortunately I wasn't clever enough to think about investing in a relic which I kick myself now for). Since the breaking from Angelics ordeal we had failed after failed attempt to form our own endgame linkshell. Many factors included those looking for an endgame linkshell was only interested in one that has been founded and has been active and productive, no one wants to join a new one.... We merged with Ellise's Linkshell (was a social at the time) and renamed it Seasons. The merger was what we needed and gave us enough members to get more members and start farming sky for the first time. At this time too the linkshell ChildrenoftheKnight changed its name to Tribulations after removing Sasekuken (who joined another linkshell, Power-something) for reasons unknown to me. After that Tribulations has been around to this day but what has transpired there since this I do not know. Back to Seasons we were rocky in sky, barely able to get pop items from the gilfarmers needed to pop gods and with what we had Genbu even posed a problem for us. Luck turned for the worst again as Ragnaroksoul introduced me and Kinkie to the wonderful world of FFXI App(Which he in turn got from Tabasco who was cracking it and handing it out like free crack). At first it was a harmless thing to play with. (Hey! I can cut time in half by warping from one end of the map to the other!, and wow I can walk through doors that I would normally have to fuck around to get the key for) Then it started to get worse, then Rag wanted me to use the warping tool to leap back and forth to fight HNM Anticians with just the 2 of us. Kinkie would join us every now and then when we wern't farming Eye Clusters. Then came the Bannings! At this time Square Enix started banning and suspending people for the first time. At this time they wern't targeting Gilfarmers, just the "hackers". Well after the first cycle of bans it spooked me enough to stop. Ragnaroksoul and Kinkie however continued to use. Next cycle I was suspended (I guess they had me on a list from last time and just didn't get to me) but Ragnaroksoul and Kinkie were banned. Not only did I lose my 2 closest friends in the game but I lost my gil supply too (luckly however I had over 200 mil saved up). It was then after that ordeal, along with my hatred for gilfarmers has escilated my bloodpressure to critical levels and my constant failure at establishing a successful linkshell not to mention my high demand of work in the Navy I decided to say goodbye to FFXI. I did a formal gathering of remaining Season Members, gave a speech and killed my character off in Saramough Champaign using venom potions.
Seven months have passed since then and the demand for me at work declined. I had more time on my hands and I had my own appartment off base with internet connection and everything. I felt that I put in too much work into FFXI to play another online game, so I decided to come back. When I did Seasons was still around but many members left, reducing the linkshell into a social. Many were happy to see me. Ellise and Yukkio were still there and welcomed me. I felt bad leaving them and swore I would bring the linkshell back to endgame status and we will be able to do all the things we wanted to in the past. I was much more successful in recruiting members and we grew large in a short amount of time. Soon we started doing Sky once more. Gilfarmers were still present and were still an annoyance as a camp monopoly but MPK was removed by Square Enix, making things safer but didn't help the RMT situation (prevented RMT from attacking players but also prevented players from attacking RMT). We became moderately successful in sky, able to defeat all 4 gods but still not Kirin material. I also started to succumb to stress once again. My eagerness to take inititive in all situations spoiled the other linkshell leaders who now do nothing, forcing me to do all scheduling, running linkshell events and managing member disputes. Tired of doing all the work myself I demanded that the other linkshell members to take charge of responsibility.....they never did. To make matters worse I caught linkshell members helping RMT fight HNMs and giving away our ToDs to Sky pop item NMs in sky. One such scum was named Sumetfu. Oddly enough Sumetfu was befriended by Ellise and Yukkio and I don't know if I was right or paranoia under stress but it felt to me that while doing all this work they were consipiring against me. Anyway, after kicking Sumetful after seeing him wear a gilfarmer linkpearl and leading A TEAM OF GILFARMERS ON TOP OF US I was labled a racist by Ellise and out of cowardice when I was afk demoted me to pearlholder. After seeing what happened when I came back later in the day I just broke my pearl. I didn't tell them to (insert multiple insults) I was too sick and too tired of all the drama and bullshit.
It was then I made it a personal goal to get all jobs to 60, all af, then to 70, beat Maat on them all, get Maat's Cap and then finish them all up 75 and fully merit them. 1.5 years later of non-stop grinding day and night I recieved my Cap on my birthday (December 29, 2007).
Funny thing was it may have taken me a year and half leveling but only 2 days of fighting Maat! During that time I got myself into Fusion Linkshell.
It was a European linkshell and oddly enough fitted perfectly into my day to day schedule. I have never been happier than in Fusion, I not only met so many nicer members but were much more experienced and successful than all my previous linkshells. Now I'm a sackholder and though I don't activly run linkshel events I make it my duty to enforce linkshell rules and settle linkshell member disputes. Currently I am finishing my remaining jobs 75, meriting them and working on finishing missions and quests. Kinkie since the banning is now playing his wife's character, Gwennelyn who I haven't spoken to much since the ban of Kinkie (doesn't feel the same and for a short time Gwennelyn was in Fusion but left).
Once everything is done I'll finally be free to slow down and do things like helping others and teaching them the vast knowledge I have accumulated over the years. After a bit of time Fusion made improvement, able to beat Kirin effortlessly, increasing number of events, Limbus, several things. About a Month after I joined Madawc was taken into an active leadership role. However, few weeks later he became more and more irrational and was discovered to have been camping Land Kings with another LS, which was a violation of the LS rules. After much arguement he was finally desacked and kicked. To this day he is on another server somewhere, server jumping to buy the dynamis currency the cheapest which he bought relics.
Soon after Madawc's departure, Kyo invited another Frenchman by the name of Oulanbator. He proved capable of his abilities, which eventually gave himself leadership status. However, it wasn't long before his emotional instability started to show. and often created drama out of thin air. Due to Kyosama's incompetence and Oulanbator's own incompetance he decided to leave Fusion. He has either quit or jumped servers, I do not know.
Some time has passed in Fusion now and at this point Fusion's success has reached it's peak. I was given sack as soon as Oulanbator left, yet I was never given any linkshell responsibilities (Asked several times for some role but Desdemona insisted on hording all responsibilities to herself). As all things must come to an end as the ls Fusion. Members' accounts become hijacked, some others like Krayge and Uesugi left Fusion tired of poor management of the Shellholder. Others simply quit the game or became inactive indifinately. All these combined circumstances has caused the linkshell's performance to plummet. The French in the linkshell's incompetance has now become a red sore sticking out for all to see, the once MVPs that made the linkshell's success a reality are now gone, the crutch that the French leaned on is no longer there to support them. Wipes started to occur with more and more frequency, bitter tempers soon stirred, fingers pointed, Fusion needed a new scapegoat to put all their excuses on. Me.
In a cowardly act of blackmail, French members threatened to leave the linkshell unless I was desacked. I never had any power, I never had the chance to do any leading, yet it was so imperative they take that away from me. Kyosama quickly complied and reduced me to pearl. Of course this would normally result in me quickly dropping my pearl and say fuck to Fusion, but at the rate I been getting gear I decided to bite my tongue and endure a little longer, just enough to get the last things I need.
Up until now I was very happy in Fusion, never had any problems, I had the most attendance in the past year than any other member, I never broken 1 linkshell rule. Due to the lack of success in the linkshell my attitude has changed. My patience with the two-faced French in the linkshell has worn thin and I found myself more and more chastising members for their lack of attention to strategies, poor leadership, and overall lack of care in general. Now if French had any good qualities I'd say it is their ability to work together for a common goal (yet still unable to work well with anyone else). While I brought up things in the open they did all their conspiring among themselves. At this point the only good organizing Sackholder the linkshell has now is Desdemona, who for the life of me have no idea why puts up with this (unless it is just for the power). When Desdemona is unable to make it to evens and only Kyosama is present there is shear chaos. He was at sea as long as Headhunter was yet tells headhunter to lead sea! That was it, at that point I pointed out something had to be done about Kyosama's piss poor leadership, hell, he even broke his own linkshell rule (if you can equip it, you can lot it) by out lotting another member on Perseus's Harpe (his thf was 63 at the time, hers was 75). In a desperate attempt to take the heat off himself, Kyosama quickly sacked 3 random of the newer members. No history of leadership, yet proven loyalty to Kyosama I suppose. Dogcat, Threesixty and Headhunter the new lapdog tools for Kyosama.
So now drama is set to boiling, I knew it was only going to be a matter of time before I would be kicked by Kyosama, none of the French wanted me there at all. I laugh now knowing they lost yet another crutch to lean on as I was both their MVP and the only one they could count on to be at every event. Today (June 30, 2008 03:00am CST) while I was sleeping I was kicked by Kyosama who immediately blocked my access to the forums. To me I am a bit dissapointed seeing as how I only lack wlegs to get everything I could possibly want from sky and never have to return to sky again. However, I do feel like a great weight has been lifted off my shoulders, I no longer have to deal with Kyosama's stupidity and incompitance anymore. No longer do I have to deal with Fusion's double standard of law and order. No longer do I have to deal with French noobs, which after years of play still can't grasp the most basic of job play and strategy. No longer do I have to endure the Hypocracy that is Fusion.
So what now? Well for starters I will continue to merit my jobs until they are all capped, still have a long ways to go on that. I still have to work my way up from the bottom in assaults. I still have Aht Urgan missions to complete. I still have Salvage to try, as well as dynamis and start working on a relic. And of course there is the past which I only stepped 1 foot in previously. And when all of that is done, I might look into a Land King only linkshell, considering if there is even one out there.
Due to the stagnicity of the server Valefor I decided to move to another server to see fresh people. Since Bahamut was the only server that still had my name open I moved to there, I found off the bat that Bahamut has much more than Valefor. The economy is better in some areas and worse in others. I'll continue to work on capping all merits then see where I go from there.
After two weeks since transfer I did mostly merits. During one merit party I met a tarutaru named Ishida. He wanted me to join his linkshell, Choice, but I was reluctant to join any linkshell as I only wanted to focus on meriting. However, his persistance paid off. After 1-2 weeks of asking me I finally gave in and joined up with them. I had to admit, Choice was a well organized, medium sized linkshell. They only did Sky, ZNMs and the occasional Limbus but I was mainly there for the company. There was another Maat Cap there, his name was Thecrow. He loved to Campaign. Lol, he loved it so much that's where he was when we weren't doing events.
I took that pic that Hotshotmeows gave me and did a little edit. Lol, it's funny that we both are set in concrete on our views and we often argued over things XD He has a mule named Sparetime that he uses to camp Euphoria ring NM, I wish I had a personal NM ; ;. Biginallways is a great Bard one of the few "smart" Galka I know to exist (Venom aswell) but 95% of them are smart as a box of rocks XD Thallis (aka Paper Tiger) was the linkshell's main Samurai and highest parsed Samurai in there. This linkshell was unorthodox in that it used Rdm/Nins to tank just about everything. Poor Paladins were basically just backups lol. I was able to enjoy myself a great deal with them and was able to get a lot of new videos (mostly znms, you can see them in video section). Also, for a month strait ,day after day, a combination of Ecleair, Thecrow, Ishida, Hotshot/Xzero and Romance camped Xolotl with me. We was able to get just about everyone Bkotes (except for poor Ecleairmeows which I feel bad for ; ;) and on the 31st day P.harpe finally dropped for me (the only day when Thecrow and his "TH4" was not present :P).
After about three months after it would seem like a good thing, the linkshell started to deteriorate. The sackholders and myself started to notice certain members were becoming selective on which events to show up for. To make matters worse the linkshell shellholder, Havan, decided abruptly to take a vacation for 2 weeks. It turned out to be over a month. He did not post on website any updates as to his current status. During this time without him the sackholders lost any modivation to take the full leadership into their hands. Not surprisingly this transferred over to the general masses of the pearlholders as well, as attendance sharply because fewer and fewer to each event, to the point that we were canceling events one right after another. A group of friends within the linkshell, (Gerhaldt, Biginallways to name a couple) decided to break away from the dying linkshell and create their own, Omnipotent. However, these members who wanted to do so held the majority of the pop items the linkshell has farmed together. They instead, without making public to the linkshell, privately went to their personal friends or those they felt would benifet from the most to join, the rest were left to rot in the now dead shell. I felt bad for those left behind, as they stayed in preferring to stay together than to split apart to find other shells. I took them all in mine, Vindicator, as a temp shell until we could find out what to do. Meanwhile, in Omnipotent, they soon discovered that their selective decision has left them with too few a member to accomplish anything. They then asked me to join them. Offended by the fact that they tried to be shady as to try to take as few with them to get the most out of the pops in hand and abandoned everyone else. I told them I would if, and only if, they were to give everyone the same opportunity as well as with an apology. Not surprising they didn't take me up on the offer. However, in unusual style they went to each member that was in my linkshell and asked them personally to join up. One by one they all went to go join Omnipotent. I was dumbfounded and angered at the same time as to why someone that was literally turned down would accept to join up with those that planned to leave them behind to begin with. I didn't say anything to them about this I just merely let them go and left it as that. On an ironic note, Havan returned around this time and is now in Omnipotent, however as a pearlholder.
A few weeks after the linkshell breakup I went back to my meriting/assault routine. I saw a mithra who gave me a "Banana Dance". Thinking I would find more of these banana dancing kitties I told them to give me a pearl to their linkshell, Bananas. Turned out it was an EU linkshell -.- Having prior experience with an EU linkshell I was a bit bland to the idea, but seeing as to minimal French being in this one I thought it wouldn't be so bad. I was wrong, these were noobs as well. It didn't take long before I started to critise on things they were doing wrong (bad mob job fighting order for example). This paladin noob Jeda suffering from an insecurity complex decided to escalate the drama. Of course was friend to a sackholder that promptly kicked me when I told her shut her yap. No point in keeping company if the company are noobs. Especially EUs.
Immediately after that I joined up with JuponGatana. Romance, a friend of mine, had been coaxing me to join them. I probably stayed a week in there before leaving. They are generally good people, it was just their point system was derived DKP which came from Sisterfok(sp) and the leader was from that linkshell (it is setup to give most benifet to the most senior members, as points gained are much greater than points spent). I humbly bowed out a week later.
As of now I'm not joining any linkshell, as I came to conclusion after all the linkshells I been through that they are just not worth the amount of work you put in to the rewards you get out. I am however joined up with a very good Nyzul Isle static and have been doing that in between my meriting. In time I will be able to get some good Nyzul Equipment and then once done with Nyzul can finally start doing Salvage. I made it to Sergent Major but still have a ways to go before making Captain. /sigh, and still Admantoise Egg away from my Blackbelt ; ;
On a side note (literally) check out the tabs on top right of website, which shows the rest of the website. Don't know why people overlook this XD
